Newborn Photography safety. This is one of our biggest priorities. Quite rightly, new parents often ask “Is newborn photography safe?” At our Hatfield studio, there are a number of ways we ensure safety comes first.
Visiting a studio
You can expect a safe experience if using a photographer that has had the right level of training. The newborn photography industry is not regulated. Therefore, anyone with a camera can say they are a newborn photographer. You definitely should question photographers about their training. As a new parent, you want to know your baby is in safe hands.

What to look for in your baby photographer
Some newborn photographers, like us, will have achieved a ‘Newborn Safety Certification.’ This is awarded by the Master Photographer’s Association. We decided to obtain this to give our families peace of mind. It shows that we take safety seriously.
What to ask a baby photographer
If you have never booked a newborn photographer, you may not know what to ask. Here are some helpful starting points…
- How long have you been photographing newborns?
- What training have you had?
- Do you have insurance?
- How often do you update your training?
- How do you achieve that photograph?
- Do you work with an assistant?
- What will you do if my baby cries?
- What happens if the session needs to be cancelled?
